| Museum with 2,013 Artefacts in Bitola Cultural Monuments : (Dnevnik, 16.12.2009) – A grand museum setting is opening in the Institute and Museum in Bitola at 7:00 p.m. today to mark the 75th anniversary of the Museum. Total 2,013 artefacts from the historical past of the Bitola region will be exhibited after they have been held in the Institute depots for years.
The rich collection will be presented in a restored museum hall covering 700 square meters.

| | Promotion of “Neolithic Communities in the Republic of Macedonia” Cultural Monuments : (www.culture.in.mk, 17.11.2009) – “Neolithic Communities in the Republic of Macedonia,” a joint work by young authors, archaeologists Goce Naumov, Ljubo Fidanoski, Igor Tolevski and Aneta Ivkovska will be promoted in the Museum of the City of Skopje at 8.00 p.m. today.
The book is published by Dante and will be promoted by archaeologist Pasko Kuzman.

| | Ohrid Church “St.Perivlepta” to Receive US Restoration Grant Cultural Monuments : (Vest, 09.10.2009) - Ohrid’s 14th-century church “St.Perivlepta” will be restored through a US$650,000 grant, said US ambassador Philip Reeker at Wednesday’s exhibition “Art in Embassies”.

| | Figurines, Stone Tools, Bones, Ceramics…Unearthed near Spancevo Cultural Monuments : (Vecer, 15.09.2009) – Artefacts typical for the Eneolith including ceramics, figurines, stone tools and bones have been unearthed at St. Atanasij site outside the village of Spancevo.

According to archaeologists, the basilica had two life phases: first in the 5th and 6th centuries, and second in the 9th to 15th centuries. | In Veles - Latin Cemetery and Kale to Be Explored Cultural Monuments : (Vecer, 06.08.2009) – Archaeologists of the National Museum in Veles will resume excavations at two antique sites, Latin Cemetery near the village of Rastani and Kale in the vicinity of the village of Zgropolci.
At the Latin Cemetery, a team of archaeologists will excavate a residential structure that was discovered by accident in 2006 during construction works for a new cemetery of the town of Veles. | 12th-Century Ring Arrives in Macedonia Cultural Monuments : (Vest, 28.07.2008) - A child’s bronze ring dating from the 12th century arrived in an anonymous package in the Museum of Macedonia last week. The letter, sent from Plzen, Czech Republic, reads in English that the sender received the ring as a gift, but believed that it belongs to Macedonia and its cultural heritage.

| | Memorial House of Vasil Glavinov to be Restored in Veles Cultural Monuments : (Vecer, 23.07.2009) - In the framework of the 140th anniversary from the birth and 80th anniversary from the death of renaissance man Vasil Glavinov, his memorial house will be restored in Veles.
The house will be renovated by the year-end, funded by the Ministry of Culture and Veles National Museum.

| Invaluable Archaeological Findings Excavated in Ohrid Cultural Monuments : (MIA, 20.07.2009) - The items excavated yesterday at site Gorna Porta in Ohrid are invaluable for Macedonia, but also for the archaeological science in general, said Sunday director of the Culture Heritage Protection Office, Pasko Kuzman.

| | Significant Findings at Heraklea Cultural Monuments : (Dnevnik, 09.07.2009) – Coins, a mead mug and utensils have been unearthed at the ancient site of Heraklea. According to Anica Gjorgievska and Engin Nasuh, the artefacts will enrich significantly the collection of the Bitola Museum.
The intensive excavations of Heraklea point to new evidence about the settlement.
Nasuh says that the unearthing of the South Wall has revealed that life in the settlement did not end in the 6th century B.C. but lasted a few more centuries. -> more ... |
