Macedonian Artifacts in Foreign Museums : Throughout its turbulent history, Macedonia has been a cradle where numerous civilisations have grown, prospered, left their traces and vanished. But this troubled country has also seen many invaders conquering it, destroying the cultural monuments and leaving with abundance of movable treasure at the end of their rule.
As a result, many artefacts that originate from Macedonian territory and evidence of the layers of civilisation that existed, mixed and complemented one another, are today in foreign museums.

| TREBENISTA - MACEDONIAN TREASURE IN FOREIGN MUSEUMS
Macedonian Artifacts in Foreign Museums : We will start the presentation of the Macedonian treasure taken outside of Macedonian territory with the artefacts from one of the most specific archaeological sites in Macedonia - Trebenista, near Ohrid. The findings there are not special only for their exquisiteness and beauty, but also for the fact that the people of Trebenista have left no traces in the history and their ethnic origin is unknown to the present days. They have only left us the golden masks and other artefacts of indescribable beauty and the mystery about their authors. Pasko Kuzman, art historian and archaeologist from Ohrid, unveiled parts of that mystery in his two books, presented here in electronic form (financed by OSI - Macedonia in 1999).
