Agency ITAR-TASS on “Ohrid Summer” – Festival with Spiritual Mission
(Vreme, 05.08.2004) - Since first concert of classic music in church “St. Sofia” in 1961, festival “Ohrid Summer” has continued the spiritual and educating mission, spreading its borders and attracting the experiences of the talented representatives from different countries worldwide, Russian agency ITAR-TASS says in the article dedicated to Ohrid and the Ohrid summer festival.
The uniqueness, sanctity and poeticism of Ohrid is especially emphasized in the agency’s report, adding that the town bewitches with the cultural-historic and spiritual monuments, which reflect the change of epochs and civilizations, and link chronicles and legends.
“Ohrid is respected by businessmen, politicians and scientists, who come here at numerous forums, conferences and seminars. Still, the town acquired much of its fame from the holding of the international festival of music, theatre and poetry “Ohrid Summer”, the article reads.
The agency also mentions the regular participation of the great representatives of the Russian culture in the festival program, such as Leonid Kogan, Igor Oystrah, Mstislav Rostopovich, Svyatoslav Rihter, Emil Gilels, Elena Obrazcova, Dmitry Safran, Vadim Repin, Maxim Vengerov, Mihail Pletnev, Nikolay Petrov, as well as ensemble “Glinka” and other leading Russian ensembles.
This year’s festival program also includes several Russian artists: pianist Nikolay Luganski, violinist Anton Barakovski and pianist Vladimir Mishcuk, chamber orchestra from Nizny Novgrad “Sofia”, and sextet chamber orchestra of Bolsoi Theatre ensemble, as well as the drama ensemble of theatre “Komisarzevskaya” from Saint Petersburg. |
