Young Open Theatre at Youth Cultural Centre Tonight – “The Tempest” Came Back to Skopje

The Tempest
(Vest, 27.09.2004) - “The Tempest” by Shakespeare directed by Aleksandar Popovski, the project of the Turkish Theatre in Skopje is having its premiere in Skopje today. After the participation of the play in festivals in Istanbul, Vienna and at the Ohrid Summer Festival, its venue today is the Youth Cultural Centre (8.00 p.m.).
In its previous performances, the play provoked the feeling of amazement and then reactions that it is an excellent performance where Popovski, using Shakespeare’s story about the old world order, makes irony of it and enters the new world order. Thus, Popovski embarks on a road presenting “The Tempest” in a different dimension, writes Prof. Nurin Tekerek of Istanbul. The subtext of Popovski’s “The Tempest” is that the young generation has been definitely lost in the world of the elders and their stories and myths. That incites fear, stunning and inability to live your own story.
Kiril Dzajkovski has written the scores especially for “The Tempest” and it is definitely one of the best theatre music works. The CD was literally sold out in Istanbul, and its Skopje premiere is following.
The cast includes: Suzan Akbele, Nesrin Tahir, Filiz Ahmet, Dzenal Samet, Bedija Begovska, Eljesa Kaso, Mustafa Jasar, Salaetin Bilal, Atila Klince and Tamer Iberahim.
