Theatre “Pralipe” Tours in Skopje


(MIA, 06.10.2004) - After 15 years of activity at the German stage, theatre “Pralipe” will perform Thursday in Skopje with project “Happy Romas”, directed by Rahim Burhan, thus completing the 29th edition of festival Youth Open Theatre. The performance is co-produced by theatre “Pralipe”, Youth Open Theatre and Universal Hall.
Professor at Faculty of Dramatic Arts, Rusomir Bogdanovski is the author of the dramatization, which he created according to film “Feather Collectors” by Aleksandar Petrovic. The story occurs in a closed Balkan Roma environment, in which the characters search for happiness. The specific of the performance is the language and live accordion music.
Director and creator of theatre “Pralipe”, Rahim Burhan stated that the cooperation with Bogdanovski began with performance “Carmen” two years ago, which is still at the repertoire.
“Pralipe” will celebrate its 35th anniversary in 2005, being the only Roma institution in Europe. “I am very proud because of that, although I realize that theatre cannot change the world, because prejudices about Roma people being entertainers still exist”, Burhan said. He plans to present theatre “Pralipe” with two projects in five countries – Hungary, Germany Finland, Macedonia and Serbia-Montenegro.
Cast in “Happy Romas” includes Andrijana Boskoska, Eduard Bajram, Zvezda Angelovska, Shaban Bajram, Suncica Todic, Severdzan Bajram, Sanela Emin, Deniz Abdula, Igor Angelovski, Zafer Kurtesi, Kemal Rasid, Fadil Ajvaz and Samir Kurtis. Valentin Svetozarev is the scenographer, Elena Donceva is the costume designer, while Jagoda Slaneva created the stage movements.
