Pre-Premiere of “Bal-Can-Can” by Darko Mitrevski

(Dnevnik, 22.12.2004) - Film “Bal-Can-Can” shot by the script of and directed by Darko Mitrevski will have its closed promotion showing at the Millenniun Cinema today. The feature film is expected its opening at upcoming European film festivals. The Skopje projection is only presentation to the media, film crew and collaborators.
This is a Macedonian-Italian-British co-production between Prva Partizanska Produkcija and Verdechi film and Aria Film in London. Upon the official premiere, “Bal-Can-Can” will probably be on the regular repertoire in Italy and in domestic cinema halls.
“It is not defined with the Italian producer whether distribution will be first in Italy or here,” Mitrevski says. “But it is certain that after the premiere, it will be a part of the home repertoire.”
The agreement between the Macedonian and Italian producers is the result of an inter-state agreement on cooperation in cinematography signed by Macedonian Minister of Culture Blagoja Stefanovski and Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.
The film stars Vlado Jovanovski, Zvezda Angelovska, Adolfo Margiota, Vasko Todorov, Branko Ognjanovski, Toni Mihajlovski, Seka Sablik, Dzevdet Jasari, Branko Gjurik, Nikola Kojo, Dejan Akimvik, Irena Ristik, Miodrag Krivokapik, Petar Borkovik, Petar Arsovski, Emil Ruben and others. The director of photography is Suki Medenevik.
The story unfolds during the armed conflict in Macedonia and follows the grotesque adventures of an ordinary citizen of Macedonia, who drifts away into the labyrinths of the Balkan criminal underground trying to escape war.
