"Ohrid Summer" Promotes 2005 Program
(MIA, 07.07.2005) - Festival "Ohrid Summer" promoted Wednesday the program of this year's 45th edition, which opera star Jose Carreras will open in Ohrid Antique Theatre on July 12. The festival will include 40 festival evenings, including concerts, drama performances and alternative content until August 20.
"Ohrid Summer continues with the presentation of renowned music names, fulfilling its promise that it will bring one of the world-renowned tenor trio to Ohrid", festival director Zoran Strezovski said at a press conference.
Besides Carreras, the opening ceremony will include the Macedonian Philharmonic, soprano Tina Gorina from Spain, while her compatriot David Jimenez will be the conductor.
Furthermore, Ohrid Summer will host 11 soloists, chamber and choir orchestras, two ballets, one opera, a musical, along with modern ballets, ethno and jazz music in the alternative program. The drama program encompasses 14 performances, a number of premieres and tours of almost all Macedonian professional theatres.
President Branko Crvenkovski is the festival's patron, along with the financial support from the Ministry of Culture, as well as "Komercijalna Banka", "Tutunski Kombinat" and "Macedonian Telecommunications".
