Ohrid Summer – Premiere of “Blind Men” by Macedonian National Theatre

(Utrinski Vesnik, 11.08.2005) - In the framework of “Ohrid Summer”, Macedonian National Theatre will perform premiere of “Blind Men” by Maurice Meterling, directed by Tomi Janezic from Slovenia on Thursday evening at 21,00h. Elena Nikodinovska translated the text from French, Ilina Crvenkovska is the dramaturge, while Blagoja Micevski is the costume designer.
The cast includes Vladimir Jacev, Gjorgji Jolevski, Petar Arsovski, Iskra Veterova, Oliver Mitkovski, Joakim Siljanovski, Risto Soluncev, Pero Stratrov, Simona Aleksandrovska and Daniela Stojkovska.
Renowned Belgian writer Maurice Meterling, who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1911, wrote drama “Blind Men” in 1890. It symbolizes human life and the incurable solitude of the abandoned and disconsolate beings. “Blind Men” is a one-act performance, including 12 blind men on stage, sitting and repeating one question “Does anybody know where are we?
Furthermore, pianist Vladimir Mishchuk from Russia will hold a concert in church “St. Sofia” at 21,00h. The program includes pieces by Bach-Buzoni, Schubert and Chopin.
Vladimir Mishchuk is Russia’s merited artist, winner at the 9th international competition “P.I.Tchaikovsky” in 1990, as well as a number of prestigious competitions. Mishchuk organizes concerts in Russia, USA, Europe and Asia, performing with renowned orchestras and conductors. He actively takes part in the creation of programs at festivals and is a member of a number of international juries. He is currently a docent at conservatorium “Rimski-Korsakov” in Saint Petersburg.
