At Cifte Amam – Retrospective Show of Margarita Kiselicka

(Vest, 17.04.2006) - “In the Light of Light” is the title of the solo exhibition of Margarita Kiselicka opening at the Cifte Amam at 8.00 p.m. today. Kiselika’s show includes sculptures, objects, installation monotypes and paintings created in the period of 20 years. The show is of the retrospective character with emphasis on her recent production.
Kiselicka says she has been preoccupied with one and same idea – out-of-time existence – since her graduation sculptures, stylized human bodies in wood. Through her development phases she has also used Plexiglas, foils, different light sources, water with everything getting the dimension of reflection which dominates her works. In some works, Kiselicka also uses frames, which give the illusion of 3D and floating form of the objects with the painted and illuminated Plexiglas sections. “I have always been interested in what is behind the frame, what is, conditionally, in the empty space between objects, between man and everything surrounding him,” the author says. “I am interested in the essence of things.”
Kiselicka has exhibited in the United States, Britain, Russia and France. This is her eighth solo show.
