|27th Skopje Summer Opens Today|
(MIA, 21.06.2006) - Cantata “Carmina Burana” by Carl Orffs, the production of the Macedonian Opera and Ballet, is opening the 27th Skopje Summer today.
The Skopje Summer programme, which will be realized in the next 40 days to 31 July, was presented at a press conference yesterday. The programme includes 60 programme terms among which 20 are foreign visiting performances and is conceived by the Directorate for Culture and Art with the support of the City of Skopje and the Ministry of Culture and in cooperation with foreign cultural centres and sponsoring companies.
“The hot summer days will be again refreshed with cultural events including music, theatre, film for both the audiences with highly established criteria and those who love entertainment,” Director Nikola Gligorov of the Directorate for Culture and Art said. He added that a characteristic of this year’s Skopje Summer is animation of outdoor areas such as Skopje Old Bazaar, the Vardar River quay, City Park, Skopje Fortress “Kale”, Kursumli-an, Daut Pasha-amam.
Besides “Carmina Burana,” a retrospective exhibition of Montenegrin artist Rajko Todorovic – Todor is opening at the Mala Stanica Cultural Centre today.
