| Commemorative session for the conductor Vanco Cavdarski - Promoter of Macedonian music throughout the world
| Vanco Cavdarski,conductor | (Utrinski Vesnik, 14.12.2001) - The Association of Music Artists, the Association of Composers and the Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra, yesterday in the Army Hall, held a commemorative session in memory of the distinguished Macedonian conductor Vanco Cavdarski, who recently past away in South Korea.
Vanco Cavdarski was one of the distinguished Macedonian conductors, who promoted the Macedonian music culture throughout the whole world. The life way of Maestro Cavdarski, from his home village Vladimirovo, the studies at the Faculty of Music Arts in Belgrade, the specialization at the State School in Hamburg in the class of the distinguished german conductor and professor, Hans Schmidt, will bring him to the biggest stages in Europe, where he will conduct with the “Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra”, “Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra” and with the “Philharmonic Orchestra of George Enesku” from Bucharest.
MaestroCavdarski in his home country Macedonia was conductor of Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra, he established its Chamber Orchestra and he conducted the Skopje Opera and Ballet. From 1970 he confirmed his reputation as a conductor in the Australian Opera in Sidney, then with the National Opera in New Zealand, the “Tasmanian Opera”, the opera in Caracas and in the last ten years as conductor and professor in South Korea. In Brisbane Cavdarski works as professor of conducting. Professor Valeri Stefanovski at the yesterday commemoration stressed that this Macedonian composer achieved great projects throughout the whole world and obliged Macedonian culture as her most distinguished representative. The Art director at the Opera of MNT, Boris Momirovski on this occasion reminded on the engagement of Vanco Cavdarski, who in this house for the first time conducted the opera “Costume Ball” and the opera “Aida” for the last. Professor Siljan Stojkov spoke for the engagement of the great Macedonian conductor who never forgot Macedonian music creativity. “He possessed a fund of works from the contemporary Macedonian composers which he performed throughout the whole world”, stressed Stojkov. For one of the most respected Macedonian musicians in the world spoke also the conductor Aleksandar Lekovski who said that “the work of Cavdarski could not be totally seen at this moment and most probably its size and complete affirmation will be experienced through number of symposiums and studies”.
Lekovski reminded on one competition in Liverpool during his student days, on which Maestro Cavdarski won the second place. He, willing to show that Cavdarski was really a conductor of great world format, noted that at the same competition the currently prestigious world conductor Zubin Mehta won the first place.
His large creative opus comprises conducting of 35 operas, over 100 symphonic works as well as 120 works of Macedonian and composers from the former SFR Yugoslavia that he realised during his ten-year residence in Belgrade.
