Film Program of Macedonian Cinematheque


(MIA, 10.10.2006) - Macedonian Cinematheque will begin Tuesday its regular film program in a new cinema where the large film collection treasure of this institution will be presented to the Macedonian public.
Film "Under the same sky" directed by Ljubisa Georgievski will be the first to be projected. Georgievski will patron the event, which will mark two jubilees - 65th anniversary of the Day of the Macedonian Anti-Fascists Rebellion and 30th anniversary of the Macedonian Cinematheque.
Cinematheque director Boris Nonevski said Monday at a press conference that films will be projected every day and the programme will be previously outlined and thematically selected.
According to Nonevski, the Macedonian Cinematheque is among the bigger cinematheques in the world. The Cinematheque collection includes over 15.000 copies of movies, documentaries and animated cartoons, journals and other audio-visual materials.
The Cinematheque has a number of rare recordings, such as the films of Lumiere brothers, which were projected at the first public presentation in the world on December 28, 1895 in Paris, the collections of the founder of artistic film Georges Melies, collection of Brother Manaki Brothers films etc.
