Restoration of Yeni Mosque in Bitola on the Model of Aja Sofia in Istanbul
(MIA, 15.11.2007) - Setting an exhibition, "Bitola, Babam, Bitola," at the prestigious museum at Dolno Bahce Saraj in Istanbul, which will be opened by the end of the month, has enabled concrete cooperation with the Institute and Museum in Bitola. Turkish experts will participate in restoration of the Yeni Mosque in Bitola on the model of Aja Sofia in Istanbul. We want this mosque, which is now housing the Art Gallery, to become a tourist attraction of our town, in particular after completion of the restoration when all damaged parts are replaced and archaeological exploration of the mosque itself is finished, said Zoran Nikolovski, Director of the Institute and Museum in Bitola in a press conference yesterdaty. |
