Year of Macedonian Language to be Launched in MANU
(Dnevnik, 15.02.2008) - Promotions of Macedonian language, literature and culture in the most important political, cultural and university centers worldwide are to be held throughout the year, which Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski will declare the Year of Macedonian Language in the Macedonian Academy of Science and Arts (MANU) on Friday at 11,00h.
The ceremony will be attended by domestic and foreign academicians, authors, politicians, linguists, and researchers of Macedonian language and culture.
Activities, held under the auspices of PM Gruevski, will be presented by chairperson of the Organizational Board, Liljana Popovska.
Academician Katica Kjulafkova will promote book “Macedonian Language in the Global World”, followed by the projection of the namesake film produced by “Makedonska Krepost” and European Film Academy ESRA.
Moreover, choir “St. Zlata Meglenska” will perform piece “Velicanie Kirilu I Metodiju” by Todor Skalovski, while Senko Velinov will read excerpts from “On Macedonian Affairs” by Krste Petkov Misirkov.
Institute on Macedonian language “Krste Misirkov” will play an enormous role in the presentations, seminars, and promotions. Until the end of 2008, the European and global public will obtain a clearer image on the specifics of the Macedonian language and literature.
Through a special promotional program, Macedonian linguists, authors, actors, diplomats are scheduled to hold lectures, debates in Brussels, Berlin, Rome, Paris, Moscow, New York, Moscow, Toronto. Furthermore, an international Macedonian language gathering will be held in Ohrid on August 29-September 1, where foreign linguists are to present their studies on Macedonian language and literature. |
