“Tsar Samoil” Opens May Opera Evenings

(Vest, 08.05.2008) - May Opera Evenings will begin at the stage of the Macedonian Opera and Ballet on Friday evening at 20,00h with the premiere of national piece “Tsar Samoil” of Kiril Makedonski, directed by Bulgarian guest Ognjan Draganov, under the baton of Sasa Nikolovski-Gjumar.
Igor Durlovski will perform in the role of Tsar Samoil, accompanied by Cvetan Stojanovski, Gjorgji Cuckovski, Sandra Mitrovska, Irena Kavkalevska and Goran Nacevski.
The May Opera Evenings program includes “Tosca” (May 16), “La Boheme” (May 20), “Turandot” (May 24), “Lucia di Lamermoor” (May 27), and the traditional closing with “Aida” on May 31. There will also be two ballets – “Swan Lake” (May 11), and “Raymonda” (May 16). Moreover, the Macedonian Philharmonic will perform (May 15) under the baton of Uros Lajovic from Slovenia and trumpet soloist Nikolay Viloft from Denmark.
Three exhibitions will be set in the Macedonian Opera and Ballet lobby on Friday – artworks by Samir Ljuma, textile artworks by Hungarian artist Emilia Pacziska, as well as photographs from the Ballet archives of ballerina Tanja Vujisic-Todorovska.
