Festival "Skopje Summer" to Include 60 Events


(MIA, 20.06.2008) - The 29th edition of festival "Skopje Summer", which begins on Saturday, will include about 60 events presented in 40 evenings.
Most of the content is musical, but the festival, which ends on July 31, will also include theatre performances, a number of exhibitions and film projections.
Nikola Gligorov, manager of Culture and Art Directorate, which organizes the festival, presented the manifestation's program at Thursday's press conference.
The festival will host guests from USA, Great Britain, France, Germany, Australia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Montenegro, and Serbia. The program also includes "Cafe Cinema" (July 10-20), and festival "Blues & Soul" (July 2-3).
Symphonic orchestra "FAME'S", which opens the festival at Skopje square "Macedonia", will play music from European and U.S. films. The concert will be preceded by opening of exhibition "Contemporary Macedonian Fine Art" in Cifte Amam, organized by the Macedonian National Gallery. The first festival evening ends with "Music without Frontiers", including midnight rock-concerts at the Skopje square, organized by the Youth Cultural Center.
"Skopje Summer" is realized in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, City of Skopje, foreign cultural centers in Macedonia, supported by long-term donor "Tutunski Kombinat"-Skopje.
