|Premiere of Opera “The Old Maid and the Thief” at “Skopje Summer”|
(Vest, 04.07.2008) - Macedonian Opera and Ballet will hold premiere of opera “The Old Maid and the Thief” by Giancarlo Menotti in Kursumli An on Saturday evening at 21,00h.
This chamber one-act opera was performed for the first time in Philadelphia in 1941. It focuses on several characters in a small place in England and the old Mrs. Todd, who gets robbed by her friends at the end.
Bisera Cadlovska is the conductor, Uschi Horner from Austria is the director, Damjan Temkov is in charge of orchestration, whereas Branislav Pop Georgievski is the narrator. Marika Popovic, Katerina Stojanovska, Kristijan Antovski, and Aleksandra Lazarovska will perform as soloists.
“BAce Quartet” will perform at the Macedonian National Theatre Summer Stage on Sunday at 21,00h.
The quartet ism comprised of renowned musicians with an international career. Aleksandar Petrov on percussion instruments has lived and worked in Paris for 10 years, jazz-pianist Vasil Hadzimanov was schooled at Berkeley, along with world-renowned pipe player Teodsij Spasov, and Roma music magician Gazmend Berisha on violin.
The quartet, which performs music of different cultural traditions, will be accompanied by famous jazz names Bojan Zulfikarapasic and Petar Herbert.
