UNESCO Artists, Ludwig Quartet, Sfumato Theatre at “Ohrid Summer” Weekend
(Vest, 08.08.2008) - In the framework of “Ohrid Summer”, Albanian soprano Inva Mula and Macedonians Boris Trajanov (baritone) and Aleksandar Stefanovski (bass) will hold a gala concert in the Antique Theatre on Friday evening at 22,00h. The Macedonian Philharmonic will perform under the baton of Francesco Rosa from Italy, who has been the resident conductor of the Naples Opera since 2004.
Inva Mula had her international breakthrough after receiving first prize at competition “Placido Domingo” in 1993. Since, she has performed alongside Domingo in all world opera centers, including the Milan Scala and New York’s Metropolitan. The public knows her for the role in film “The Fifth Element”. Aleksandar Stefanovski is a graduate at the Bulgarian Music Academy.
The three soloists will perform arias, duets and overtures from classical opera pieces by Verdi, Puccini and Rossini.
The UNESCO Artists evening also includes a concert of Croatian violinist Ino Mirkovic and Macedonian pianist Marija Vrskova in church “St. Sofia” at 20,00h. They will play pieces by Grieg and Wienawski.
Saturday’s program includes Quartet Ludwig from France in “St. Sofia” at 21,00h.
The ensemble was established in 1985 and is one of the leading musical companies in Europe. It has received top class awards, and has cooperated with other ensembles, such as “Amadeus”, “Tokyo”, “Berg”. The Ohrid Summer concert program encompasses pieces by Debussy, Lekeu, and Ravel.
Bulgarian theatre “Sfumato” will perform “Dance of Death” by August Strindberg, directed by Margarita Mladenova in center of culture “Grigor Prlicev” on Sunday evening at 21,00h.
“Sfumato” is one of the most renowned Bulgarian theatres, which revolutionary theatre projects often take it to European festivals, as well as BITEF in Belgrade and MESS in Sarajevo. |
