Over 50,000 Visitors at Strumica Carnival

(MIA, 17.02.2010) - Over 50,000 visitors followed late Tuesday the Strumica Carnival parade throughout the streets and the town square.

About 2,500 masked individuals took part in the event, coming from all over Macedonia, but also from Bulgaria, Serbia, Albania, Turkey and Finland.

According to the Organization Board, this year's carnival was one of the most successful thus far, taking into account the masks' diversity and the magnificent creations.

The jury is to announce Wednesday the awards for best group and individual masks.

The annual Strumica Carnival is held 40 days before Easter, honoring the Trimer holidays and the start of the Easter fast.
