Tonight, with the concert of the Zagreb string quartet and the famous pianist Vladimir Krpan (the beginning is tonight at 8pm in the Army Hall in Skopje), the manifestation Days of the Croatian culture in Macedonia will be solemnly opened. In the course of a one-month period, as part of this important manifestation, a summary of the actual happenings in the Croatian culture in this period will be made and this will certainly attract the attention of the Macedonian audience. About one hundred participants will present themselves at the Days of the Croatian culture, part of whom will visit Macedonia, presenting about 14 different cultural contents. As part of this manifestation there will be exhibitions of Croatian artists who will present their work at the exhibitions, “Unadjusted” which is to show the strategy in the Croatian contemporary art and “time and Space” in the gallery “Mesto”. The performance “Textile Creation” by Marija and Josipa Bronic will happen on the same evening with the concert of the jazz trio of Matija Dedic, in the Museum of the city of Skopje. There is a plan for a literary meeting with contemporary Croatian artists, Ante Tomic, Miljenko Jergovic and Tatjana Gromaca. The Croatian film will be introduced with the presentation of several authors of experimental films in the Museum of contemporary art (MSU), then at the film evening in the cinema “Kultura” the short film “Draught” will be projected and the long film “Sky Satellites”. Of course the animated films will not be missed these days, so there will be a projection in the cinema “Manaki” where films from the world famous Zagreb school for cartoons. will be shown. The theatre will be presented through the play that will be performed in the cinema “Centar”, then there will be an exhibition of the recent Croatian comic book scene, an exhibition of the prominent Croatian architects with world fame, Vinko Penezic and Kresimir Rogina.
The Days of the Croatian culture are held in cooperation and with the support of the both ministries of culture, of Republic of Macedonia and of Republic of Croatia. The manifestation is coordinated by the direction for culture and art in Skopje and with the close cooperation of the Concert direction of Zagreb.
- The cultural ties and the cooperation of the two countries and the two nations is continually preserved for decades, successfully and worthily with respect of the cultural creation of both the nations. This manner of presentation of the culture of the both states and nations represents another great highlight of the happenings in the continuity. Through the days of the Macedonian culture, realised last year in Croatia, we had an opportunity to offer the Croatian audience part of the Macedonian creation and just as our friends in Croatia were good hosts, this year we will try to respond to that, - said the manager of the Management for culture and art, Nikola Gligorov, who gave detailed information about this manifestation at yesterdays press conference.
- To organise the Days of the Croatian culture in Macedonia after what happened last year in Zagreb when Macedonia showed to the Croatian public all its treasures of its culture, is a thing that causes a certain amount of fear, whether we will manage to present the Croatian culture in the same measure as Macedonia magnificently presented its culture during the Days of the Macedonian culture in Croatia, - modestly said the ambassador of the Croatia in Macedonia, Mr Aleksandar Milosevic, who with his presence at yesterday’s press conference, gave this manifestation a greater meaning. He, speaking of culture, reminded of the long-term cooperation between the two countries that has successfully been performed for decades. He mentioned the cooperation of the brothers Miladinovci with the bishop Strossmaer in the 19th century, then the fact that one of the greatest masters of poetry, Koco Racin, who published his first works in the Zagreb newspapers, and finally the first edition of “Beli Mugri” (White Dawns) in Macedonian has been printed in Croatia. “This manifestation, if you will, has even that political dimension, because it affirms the traditionally good relations that Macedonia and Croatia have from the first days of their independence. I have to say that it is hard to find a country with so little money, so much work and contributes for the culture as Macedonia does, added the ambassador Milosevic.
