Balkan Theatre Sphere Scientific Conference


(MIA, 01.04.2003) - A scientific conference dedicated to the Balkan Theatre is held today in Skopje. The gathering, a part of this year’s SKOMRAHI events, will discuss the Balkans as an exceptional theatre phenomenon, defining the links, touches, influences, and sometimes only the productive contacts among theatre environments. The conference will also try to define the so-called Balkan theatre sphere and describe its significance for the European theatre history.
“Eleven prominent Balkan theatre experts, professors at seven different academies from seven countries will take part in the conference as will some doyens of the Balkan theatre history including Dr. Petar Marjanovic, a distinguished theatre expert in Belgrade, a few experts from the so-called middle generation (Dr. Zehra Kreho in Sarajevo, Dr. Dragana Colic-Biljanovski in Belgrade, MA Elena Baeva in Sofia, Dr. Vjeran Zupa in Zagreb, Dr. Sinisa Japusic in Cetinje, Dr. Nada Petkovska in Skopje), and some young but very competent scientists, the members of a generation that has yet to show its great results (Mr. Barbara Orel in Ljubljana, Dr. Kamelija Nikolova in Sofia),” Prof. Jelena Luzina, PhD and Chairman of the Balkan Theatre Sphere Scientific Conference said.
