(Nova Makedonija, 06.10.2003) - Macedonia’s National Report on Cultural Policy is expected to be presented at the Cultural Committee of the Council of Europe in Strasburg tomorrow. The National Report was an obligation Macedonia, or Macedonian Ministry of Culture undertook in 1998 by entering the Mosaic European Project in which Southeast European countries took part. Minister of Culture Blagoj Stefanovski, who is leading a Macedonian delegation, will present the report. The delegation includes: State Secretary Gorjan Tozija and the head of the International Cooperation Sector with the Ministry of Culture Biljana Prentoska as well as Zlatko Teodosievski, the editor of the Report.
By the approval of the National Report on Macedonia’s Cultural Cooperation, the report is entering the cultural policy agenda of Southeast European countries, and the Ministry of Culture is materializing an obligation to the Council of Europe and the cultural and social public in Macedonia. The National Report approval will mark overcoming long-year barriers and will open the possibilities for Macedonia and Macedonian culture involvement in new programmes of the Council of Europe.
The National Report is an insight, a cross-section of the conditions in every sphere of culture in the past ten years since independence. A documented memory of those conditions, it should be a kind of a basis for a new strategy of cultural development here.
After the Strasburg presentation, it has been announced that a national debate on the occasion Report - Cultural Policy in Macedonia will be held in Skopje within the Mosaic projects, or its final phase on November 14th and 15th.
