Skopje Film Festival – Thursday’s Program

(Vreme, 11.03.2004) - The rerun of films “Invasion of Barbarians” of Dennis Arcand and “Soul of a Man” of Wim Wenders (13,00h and 15,30h at cinema “Millennium”) will mark the beginning of Thursday’s festival program.
New film of Claude Shabrol “Flower of Evil” will be shown in cinema “Millennium” at 18,00h, which was nominated for the “Golden Bear” at Berlin Film Festival, and award “Goya” for best European film. It will be followed by the projection of “The Great Adventure of Mortadelo and Filemon at 20,30h, which is a furious dark comedy of Spanish director Javier Feser. The festival evening in “Millennium” will be closed at 23,00h with French film “His Brother” of Patrice Sherot, who is familiar to the Skopje public from his previous film “Intimacy”, which was shown at the 2003 Skopje Film Festival.
Two films by Stole Popov “Tattoo” (1991) and “Gypsy Magic” (1997) will be projected in cinema “Frosina” at 16,00h and 18,00h.
The Skopje audience will also have the opportunity to see the first film from Afghanistan, “Osama” of director Sidik Barmak at 20,00h. The film won the “Golden Palm” and “Golden Globe” for best foreign film. It will be followed by “The Last Train” of Russian director Alexey German at 22,00h, which is film about, “the intelligent people that were forced to fight, so that they die without any sense or purpose”.
